Cabinet discontinues services of DGS&D in jute bag procurement
From November, jute bags will be procured by the Jute Commissioner of India under the Textiles Ministry as decided by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet today decided to discontinue services of the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) in purchase of jute bags by government agencies for procurement of food grains.
From November onwards, jute bags will be procured by the Jute Commissioner of India under the Ministry of Textiles.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
"The approval would help in eliminating multiple bodies and the ministries which are involved for single action of jute bags procurements. It will also strengthen the scope of work vested with the Jute Commissioner of India," an official statement said.
