Budget 2025: How FM Sitharaman plans to boost the footwear and leather sectors

Budget 2025: On Saturday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented India’s Union Budget for 2025-26, unveiling several ambitious plans aimed at boosting key sectors. Among the highlights, Sitharaman announced that the government will launch a focused scheme for the footwear and leather sectors, aiming to strengthen these industries.

The government will also launch a mission to support clean technology manufacturing activities, she said while presenting the Union Budget for 2025-26.

She said investment as third engine encompasses investing in people, innovation, and economy.


One of the major steps in the budget is the government’s commitment to providing broadband connectivity to all government secondary schools and primary healthcare centres. This initiative will improve access to information and services, especially in rural areas, helping bridge the digital divide and enhance the delivery of essential services.

Sitharaman's achievement in presenting her eighth consecutive Union Budget is historic. She is on track to surpass the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented ten budgets during his time as finance minister in the 1950s and 1960s. But this milestone is about more than just numbers.
