Budget 2025: Exempt income-tax up to ₹10 lakh, check Chinese imports, urge RSS Unions to Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi: RSS-affiliated unions suggested raising the tax-exempt income to ₹10 lakh, a special agriculture package, expanding MGNREGA to 200 days of work, expediting GST refunds, and a comprehensive manufacturing policy to check Chinese imports in their pre-budget consultations with Nirmala Sitharaman.

On Monday, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh's (BMS) Pawan Kumar along with his colleagues met Sitharaman and put forward their suggestions.

The BMS wanted MGNREGA expanded to guarantee each family 200 days of employment. It also demanded a "special package" for labour intensive sectors like agriculture, plantation, beedi and fisheries.

The outfit requested an 8th pay commission, a ₹10 lakh I-T exemption, and OPS instead of NPS and UPS.

Enhance the gratuity calculation days from 15 days to 30 days per year and exempt pensioners from paying tax, were also among the suggestions.

Laghu Udyog Bharati: The Sangh-affiliated small and medium enterprise body had demanded expediting GST refunds, extending an amnesty scheme for minor lapses in GST filing, and rationalising GST rates.

Bhartiya Kisan Sangh: The farmers' body demanded waiving of GST on agriculture inputs and raising the PM Kisan Nidhi on regular intervals. The BKS also demanded direct transfer of fertilizer subsidies in farmers' accounts.

Swadeshi Jagran Manch: The economic wing of RSS specifically emphasised on trade imbalance with China and demanded a comprehensive manufacturing which also included tariffs and other trade measures to incentivise domestic manufacturing. Ashwini Mahajan represented SJM in the pre-budget consultations.
