The finance minister Arun Jaitley mentioned during his budget speech for 2016-17 that a massive number of 4,950 dialysis sessions take place in India every year.

NEW DELHI: The finance minister Arun Jaitley mentioned during his budget speech for 2015-16 that a massive number of 4,950 dialysis sessions take place in India every year.

However, the cost of medicines and services being high, only half of the requirement for patients is met every year.

To ensure that dialysis happens in every district in India, he introduced the National Dialysis Programme under which he proposes to cut customs duty for certain yet to be identified parts for dialysis equipment.
