Budget 2013 will not be populist: Edelweiss
NEW DELHI: With Union Budget 2013 round the corner, market analysts feel that the finance bill will not be populist.

"Government is all set to make reform process a reality with the global economic environment and liquidity scenario in favourable condition," said Vikas Khemani, President and Head-Institutional Equities, Edelweiss Securities.

Market has already started building expectations from Budget as government is taking all measures, which it had promised.

“I feel that as per the present circumstances, unlike popular belief, Budget 2013 will not be a populist one, it will be fairly balanced,” added Khemani.

Khemani said that lots of statements are expected from the budget in terms of growth and fiscal consolidation.

“Budget would be a good document in terms of outlining fiscal consolidation, divestment schedule and GST implementation,” said Khemani.

Analysts strongly believe that market would touch a new high around or before March 2013, if the prevailing situation continues.
