Board of Trade to review exim policy

Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie, who is holding additional charge of the commerce & industry portfolio, is all set to launch the groundwork for the '03-04 exim policy modifications with a meeting of the Board of Trade (BoT).

NEW DELHI: Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie, who is holding additional charge of the commerce & industry portfolio, is all set to launch the groundwork for the ’03-04 exim policy modifications with a meeting of the Board of Trade (BoT).
With representatives from various sections of industry, trade and government, the Board is slated to discuss various issues related to the forthcoming exim policy review and the ’03 budget. Sensitive issues like the future of section 10 A and 10 B of the Income Tax Act, the Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme and reduction in transactions would figure at the meeting, sources in the commerce department said. Secretaries from the commerce, textiles, finance and revenue departments are expected to be present at the meeting.
Senior representatives from trade associations like the FIEO, CII, Ficci, Assocham, export promotion councils and commodity boards would also be present.
