A bill each seeking to amend CGST and IGST Acts to levy tax on online games, casinos and horse racing are likely to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Friday, sources said. On Wednesday, the Cabinet had approved changes to GST laws to add them to the schedule for levy of 28% GST on online games, casinos and horse racing. The amendments to the GST laws were cleared by the GST Council last week, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman indicating that the Centre and the states are looking to impose tax from October.

Both these bills would be brought in as money bills, which means the Rajya Sabha cannot amend these. In both the bills, the Centre seeks to insert a new Act in the laws related to online gaming and other similar activities.
