Bihar giving priority to skill development of migrating labourers
Bihar was according top priority to skill development of labourers who migrate from the state to Gulf countries and rest of the country.
"We have accorded priority to ensuring skill development of the labourers migrating to Gulf countries for better earnings", Modi told a function organised by International Growth Centre (IGC).
Stating that about 40 lakh to 50 lakh labourers of Bihar migrate to Gulf countries and other states annually for better earning and they contribute a lot to the state economy, Modi said that migrant labourers of Kerala, Punjab and Gujarat have contributed much to the economy of their respective states.
He said there had been 26 per cent decline in the exodus of labourers going to other states for merely managing two square meals. "If anybody goes to other places it is good for the growth of a state and individual and therefore, it has become necessary to impart them training for skill development for further better earning", Modi added.
"We had given top priority to good governance when we came to power for the first time in Bihar in 2005... now it is necessary for changes in the policy determination and their implementation. The government is continually monitoring the schemes for better results", he said.
