Bengal move to boost industrialisation process

Aiming to give a renewed thrust to the industrialisation drive in West Bengal, the Left Front government has invited intelligentia, industrial experts and investors at a meeting here on September 25.

KOLKATA: Aiming to give a renewed thrust to the industrialisation drive in West Bengal, the Left Front government has invited intelligentia, industrial experts and investors at a meeting here on September 25.

The move is being viewed in the political and industrial circles as a serious effort at the instance of Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee to clear doubts about the state government's sincerity of purpose and the hurdles it had faced in going ahead with the industrialisation process.

West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister, Nirupam Sen, would preside over the discussion at a hotel on the city outskirts.

According to Industry Secretary Sabyasachi Sen, the industrial revival in the state is one of the priorities of the Left Front-ruled government.

"The concerted effort of the state government in this direction, beginning with the announcement of the state's industrial policy in 1994, has borne results and a large number of proposals for setting up manufacturing industries in the state have been received," Sen said.
