Badal earmarks Rs 1,000 cr for Amritsar ahead of by-election
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has announced development schemes totalling Rs 1,000 crore for the city.
At a press conference here, Badal announced that Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked exclusively to make this city a model one.
Badal said Rs 144 crore has been earmarked for the Government Medical College Amritsar, which was badly lacking basic infrastructure for the last many years.
He said Rs 210 crore would be spent on the elevated road which is under construction.
Under the World Tourist Organisation Plan, Rs 26.23 crore would be spent for promoting religious tourism. Apart from this, Rs 73 crore would be spent on beautification of the area around the Golden Temple.
By-election to Amritsar South Assembly constituency will be held on May 22. The seat fell vacant after the death of SAD MLA Raminder Singh Bularia on February 14 this year.
