NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the aspirational district programme as well as India's first wellness centre under Ayushman Bharat on April 14 at Bijapur, Chattisgarh.

The two programmes are key initiatives of the NITI Aayog. Under the 'Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme, the government aims to quickly and effectively transform the 115 districts based on real-time monitoring.

The broad contours of the programme are convergence (of Central & State Schemes), collaboration of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors), and Competition among districts driven by a mass Movement. The idea is to focus on the strength of each district, identify low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measure progress and rank districts.
