NEW DELHI: The government is expected to ink the auto fuel policy tomorrow that would draft a roadmap for new emission norms. The oil ministry proposal, which has suggested a series of fiscal incentives for brining auto fuel in line with the quality specifications of emission norms, was opposed by the finance ministry.
The government will give more emphasis to on improving the quality of liquid fuels as well as alternate fuels like CNG and LPG.
The finance ministry had expressed reservations to fiscal concessions such as one-time budgetory support to north-east refineries, lower custom duty on imported goods, lower excise duty on indigenously manufactured goods and equipment and 100 per cent depreciation on plant and machinery.
