Assam Budget 2019: Here's what the budget entails
Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the state budget for the financial year 2019-20 on Wednesday at the Legislative Assembly.

Here are the key highlights of the budget:
*Proposal to enhance the annual turnover limit for availing composition scheme to Rs 1.5 crore in MSME sector.
*No additional tax announced.
*Fiscal deficit hiked to 3.2%
*A 6-lane bridge project over Brahamaputra river sanctioned at a cost of Rs 2200 crore in Guwahati.
*Sport personalities and artists to get one-time cash incentive of Rs 50,000 each.
*Village heads to get smartphone to help them stay connected with district administration.
*Tombs of Ahom kings to be developed as tourist attractions, Rs 25 crore sanctioned.
*Giant statues of three monarchs of Assam, Kumar Bhaskaravarm , Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha and Maharaj Nara-Narayana, to be built at state secretariat as icons of good governance.
*Rs 100 crore sanctioned for development and employment related activities for indigeneous Muslims of Assam.
*Schemes to rehabilitate boatmen who lost income sources due to Bogibeel bridge and Bhupen Hazarika Setu.
*Rice to be provided at Re 1 per KG under Affordable Nutrition & Nourishment Assistance Yojna. 53 lakh families to benefit.
*E-bike for students passing class XII state board in first division.
*Widows below the age of 45 years to get Rs 25000 as immediate assistance.
*College students from tea garden community to get Rs 10000 monthly stipend.
