Anti-dumping duties imposed against TSP imports from China

The designated anti-dumping authority has recommended a definitive duty of $0.967 per kg against all imports of thermal sensitive paper from China.

NEW DELHI: The designated anti-dumping authority has recommended a definitive duty of $0.967 per kg against all imports of thermal sensitive paper from China.
The Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties under the Commerce Ministry has recommended the duty after an investigation established that the imports of the items was causing material injury to the Indian industry.
"The Indian industry has suffered material injury on account of price undercutting, price suppression and significant increase in the volume of the dumped imports from the subject country and is being threatened with further injury," the DGAD said in its final findings.
The investigation in the case was conducted for the period April-December 2000 on the basis of a petition filed by Shree Krishna Paper Mills and Industries Ltd.
Thermal sensitive paper is primarily used for recording messages for electronic equipment, in fax machines, ECG machines and other medical equipment, seismographic machines, airlines baggage, tagging, tickets and boarding cards.
In another case, the DGAD has recommended imposition of final anti-dumping duties on imports of acrylic yarn from Nepal.
It has recommended a duty of $0.14 per kg on Reliance Spinning Mills Lts and a duty of $0.35 per kg on all other exporters and producers of the item from Nepal.
The investigation in the case was conducted following a petition filed by Punjab Fibres Ltd, Punjab Vardhaman Spinning and General Mills Ltd, Sportking India Ltd and Malwa Cotton Spinning Mills Ltd on behalf of the domestic industry.
Investigations in the case were conducted for the period from April 2000 to March 2001.
The DGAD, in its investigations, concluded that the domestic industry had suffered material injury on account of price undercutting and significant increase in the volume of the dumped imports from the subject countries and the injury was being caused to the domestic industry by dumped imports from the subject country.
