Anand Sharma to chair joint task force

Commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma will chair a joint task force for ensuring regular dialogue between industry and government to build a conducive environment for growth. DIPP secretary R P Singh and a representative from the industry will co-chair the task force at the second tier level, according to an official release. The taskforce will also include experts, analysts and economists.

The decision was taken at a meeting between the ministers and representatives from industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Wednesday. With industrial growth slowing down in the on-going fiscal, the government is looking at various ways to revive manufacturing activity.

The Industry expressed concerns about declining credit flow, skill deficit and decline in manufacturing jobs. The minister said the government will be in a position of circulate a Cabinet note on the proposed national manufacturing policy soon which would give a big push to manufacturing activities.

"Other meetings which will take place within the next 10 days will help us in bringing this to a successful conclusion. Soon we will be in a position to circulate Cabinet note on the policy," Sharma said.
