All-star panel of GBS to draw up plan for next stage of economic reforms
MUMBAI: At the second edition of the Airtel-Economic Times Global Business Summit (GBS) at the Taj Palace hotel in New Delhi, we have assembled a turbo-charged panel to debate the “Make in India: Unleashing India’s Potential” theme.

The stellar line-up of panelists ranges from thought leaders in the realm of governance to founders of businesses with proven track records, and ministers who have endeavored to transform their own ministries. In Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways, we have a visionary who spelled out the long-term investment plan for Railways, which suffered from acute investment crunch and low capacity. His colleague Manohar Parrikar, Minister of Defence, too is credited for a change in the thinking pattern in South Block with decisive and swift actions. From the bureaucracy, we have the charismatic Amitabh Kant, Secretary Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), who pilots key initiatives to attract investment and recently bagged ET’s Policy Change Agent Award for the year 2015.

On January 30th, sharing the dais will be lords of the manufacturing domain — Indian multinational conglomerate Larsen & Toubro’s Deputy Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, one of the world’s largest diversified natural resources company Vedanta Resources’ CEO Tom Albanese and German multinational conglomerate ThyssenKrupp’s India CEO Michael Thiemann. And talking about the renaissance of Indian manufacturing will be BCG’s Chairman Hans-Paul Burkner, a globally acknowledged strategic thinker. At GBS 2.0, the all-star panel will discuss threadbare the possibilities and pitfalls of making in India and draw up a plan for the nation’s next stage of economic transformation.
