WASHINGTON: Terming it as a "progressive" annual budget, the Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC) welcomed the increase in budgetary allocation for Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.

The budget presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee reflects that the Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are truly interested in the welfare of the poor, farmers and those living in villages, the INOC said.

"It is truly a budget for the Aam Aadmi (common man)," INOC president Surinder Malhotra said.

"It is a progressive budget. It shows that under the Congress rule, India would much stronger from the current global economic crisis," he said.
