Union Budget 2012-13: Excise duty raised to 12% from 10%

In the final step towards rolling back of stimulus, an excise duty hike from 10% to 12% was announced by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Union Budget 2012-13 speech. No change was made in peak customs duties.

NEW DELHI: In the final step towards rolling back of stimulus, an excise duty hike from 10% to 12% was announced by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Union Budget 2012-13 speech. No change was made in peak customs duties.


In his pre-budget expectations Dinesh Thakkar, CMD, Angel Broking had also said that excise duties may be revised to 12%. Similar expectations had been voiced by Kotak Institutional Equities.
