7 proposals get BoA nod, 2 get in-principle clearance
The board of approval (BoA) for SEZs has given formal approvals to seven proposals and in-principle clearance to two proposals.
The SEZs which got formal clearance include a multiservices SEZ by Anand Jains Navi Mumbai SEZ in Maharashtra, an aluminium SEZ by JSW Aluminium in Andhra Pradesh and an agro-product SEZ by Anand Agrochem India in Uttar Pradesh.
In-principle clearances were given to a multi-product tax-free zone by Lepakshi Knowledge Hub in Andhra Pradesh and a portbased SEZ by Karaikal Port in Pondicherry. Larsen and Tourbos proposal for setting up an IT/ITeS SEZ in Maharashtra was deferred due to lack of clarity on land possession, a commerce ministry official said.
As many as 520 SEZs have been formally approved by the government so far after the SEZ Act was passed in 2005 and rules notified in February 2006.
