The first finance ministers and central bank governors meeting under India’s presidency commenced on Friday.

The meeting today will focus on issues relating to international financial architecture, sustainable finance, infrastructure, financial sector and financial inclusion.

New Delhi has been pitching for a global strategy, given the cross-border nature of crypto transactions and potential risks they pose to the world’s financial system.

Food and energy insecurity, too, will feature prominently in the discussions of G-20 finance and central bank governors.

Reforms of multilateral development banks, international taxation and boosting the availability of finance to tackle climate risks are among the other critical items on the agenda.

The meeting will also hold a special global sovereign debt roundtable on Saturday to find solutions to the debt issues faced by low income countries.
