Institute of Company Secretaries to conduct 100 seminars on GST
There are more than 4 lakh students of Company Secretaries in the country and the ICSI has about 46,000 members.

The institute is celebrating August as the month of GST and aims to train students on GST and its implications through the seminars. It also plans to launch online three-week tutorials on the tax.
“The GST related tax litigations are expected to rise initially,” ICSI president Mamta Binani said.
Companies are raising a large number of issues on the tax and its implications, she said.
Binani said that the GST has opened opportunities for company secretaries who will be allowed to appear before GST Appellate Authority to resolve litigation on the new tax reform.

Binani said that businesses with turnover of Rs 10 lakh will come under ambit of the new tax. “A business with turnover of up to Rs 1.5 crore is not liable for GST audit,” she said.
