CHANDIGARH: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India plans to conduct 100 seminars on Goods and Services Tax across the country from this month onwards.

The institute is celebrating August as the month of GST and aims to train students on GST and its implications through the seminars. It also plans to launch online three-week tutorials on the tax.

“The GST related tax litigations are expected to rise initially,” ICSI president Mamta Binani said.

Companies are raising a large number of issues on the tax and its implications, she said.

Binani said that the GST has opened opportunities for company secretaries who will be allowed to appear before GST Appellate Authority to resolve litigation on the new tax reform.
