Yamuna Expressway fines can be paid online soon
NOIDA: The traffic police department is working to set up an online payment system that will allow violators on the Yamuna Expressway to pay their dues online, starting next month.

Ram Nayan Yadav, SP (traffic) Noida, said the department has roped-in a consultant firm on payment solutions, enabling banks to allow e-payment though cards and netbanking. “We hope the new facility will be in place by November,“ he said.

The 165-km long high-speed Yamuna Expressway corridor connects Noida to Agra.Enforcement officials said commuters violate speed li mits and traffic rules, and since some of them come from other NCR cities, it is a hassle to get them to pay their fines.“They face difficulties to pay challans in the Noida traffic police's office as they live in different cities. The e-pay ment system will benefit people from different cities,“ Yadav said.

The traffic police have also beefed up enforcement on the e-way ahead of foggy season. The police have set up a traffic cell at the Jewar toll plaza, where a group six traffic police personnel will issue challans to violators. On an average, around 70-80 challans are issued at the Jewar toll plaza.

The entire stretch from Greater Noida to Agra is equipped with CCTV cameras at different spots to monitor vehicular movement. The speeding vehicles are caught in camera and immediately alert the officials at the traffic cell at Jewar toll plaza. The enforcement officials fine violators and issue challans at the Jewar toll plaza and hand over challans to people who do not pay the fine on the spot. From January to September 2015 the traffic police have fined 2677 violators at the Yamuna Expressway for speeding.
