VKKS appeals people to oppose SEZ
The `Vishesh Arthik Kshetra Kruti Samiti' (VAKKS) has appealed to all persons to oppose the development of special economic zones (SEZ) in the country, especially in Maharashtra.

THANE: The `Vishesh Arthik Kshetra Kruti Samiti' (VAKKS) has appealed to all persons to oppose the development of special economic zones (SEZ) in the country, especially in Maharashtra.
"The SEZ development is an ill-advised, blind folded, hasty and anti-people decision of the Central and State Governments, considering the prevailing socio-economic conditions in our country," Sanjay Vadhavkar, a trade union leader leading anti-SEZ activists said.
He made it clear that they were not opposed to industrialisation, nor export promotion and earnings, but to the manner in which they were done.
VAKKS has been conducting sustained campaign amongst farmers, and other villagers and workers in Pen, Panvel and Uran talukas, about dangerous effects of SEZ on livelihood of the locals.
