Uttarakhand to sign agreement with ADB

Uttarakhand government would soon ink an agreement with Asian Development Bank for 500 million US dollar urban development project in the state.

DEHRA DUN: Uttarakhand government would soon ink an agreement with Asian Development Bank for 500 million US dollar urban development project in the state.

This was stated by Chief Secretary I K Pandey after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister B C Khanduri.
Pande said ADB would give 350 million US dollar for the project as loan through the centre while the remaining 150 million US dollar would have to be generated by the state government from its own resources.

Under the project, Pandey said, work like slum development, road construction, solid waste management and transport system would be undertaken in 31 towns of the hill state including Dehra Dun, Nainital and Haridwar.

After the go ahead from the cabinet, the agreement would be signed within a fortnight's time, he said, adding, the agreement with ADB would be for seven years.
