Uttarakhand gets Rs 2,063 crore from Centre under PMGSY

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain said Rs 2,063 crore would be given by the Centre, while the remaining Rs 700 crore would be borne by the state govt.

DEHRA DUN: The Centre has sanctioned an amount of Rs 2,063 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna ( PMGSY) to Uttarakhand in order to connect all villages of the hill state through roads.

During a review meeting of PMGSY held here yesterday, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain said Rs 2,063 crore would be given by the Centre, while the remaining Rs 700 crore would be borne by the state government to construct the roads.

Around 230 habitations will be connected with roads every year for the next three years, he said.

The Chief Secretary also directed the officials to form five new divisions of Public Works Department (PWD) and depute engineers on a contract basis till recruitment of engineers is made through Public Service Commission.

An honorarium of Rs 25,000 per month to Assistant Engineers and Rs 15,000 per month to Junior Engineers will paid in this regard.
