Urban infra gears up for metro push

According to Neetu Vinayek, infrastructure tax leader at consultancy firm EY India, the focus on urban transformation through expansion of metro rail and NaMo Bharat will enhance the ease of living index and fuel economic growth.

Urban India will get a fillip from the renewed push to metro rail projects, with the interim budget focusing on the growing needs of connectivity and decongestion.

"We have a fast-expanding middle class and rapid urbanisation is taking place. Metro rail and NaMo Bharat can be the catalyst for the required urban transformation," said finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

She said these systems will be supported in large cities, focusing on transit-oriented development.
