UP govt rejects Anil Ambani group's SEZ in Noida
In a setback to Anil Ambani Group, the Uttar Pradesh today rejected its proposed special economic zone in Noida on the ground that it did not conform to the Centre's guidelines on SEZs.

LUCKNOW: In a setback to Anil Ambani Group, the Uttar Pradesh today rejected its proposed special economic zone in Noida on the ground that it did not conform to the Centre's guidelines on SEZs.
The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati here, Shailesh Krishna, principal secretary to Mayawati, told reporters.
Besides the land already acquired, an additional 2,000 acre of land would be needed for the SEZ and this was not possible without forced acquisition, he said.
The Reliance Anil Ambani Group had proposed to set up a multi-product SEZ spread over 2,500 acre of land in Noida. The proposal was cleared by the previous Mulayam Singh governmnet, but the new regime led by Mayawati had raised objections as soon as it came to power early this year.
