UP government to spend Rs 1,570 crore on construction of roads

Uttar Pradesh government will spend Rs 1570 crore for the repair and construction of roads, culverts and bridges during 2012-2013.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government will spend Rs 1570 crore for the repair and construction of roads, culverts and bridges during 2012-2013.

Proposals to this effect were approved in a meeting chaired by UP PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav here yesterday, an official spokesman said.

During this period, 1,000 kilometres of single lane roads would be converted into double lane, the spokesman said adding that quality of work would be ensured.

On the occasion, the minister asked officials of his department to conduct their duties honestly and with dedication and warned that strict action would be taken wherever laxity was found.
