Tulip launches data, video services

IP Infrastructure and services provider Tulip IT Services on Tuesday announced the launch of its managed services portfolio, including data centre services and video services for enterprises.


NEW DELHI: IP Infrastructure and services provider Tulip IT Services on Tuesday announced the launch of its managed services portfolio, including data centre services and video services for enterprises. The company also launched its first data centre in Delhi.

“We want to be the largest data services provider in the country,” said Tulip IT Services CMD HS Bedi. The company currently provides data connectivity through VPNs, network integration and rural connectivity. A data centre, which houses large amount of electronic equipment like computers, servers and communications equipment, is where enterprises host their critical data.

Tulip IT Services would lease out space in its data centre to companies which don’t want to set up their own centres. “Telecom service providers and small and medium enterprises have shown interest in using our data centre,” said Mr Bedi.
The company has invested Rs 30 crore in its first data centre. The next one in Mumbai is expected to be ready in another 3-4 months. Tulip would set up data centres in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

According to the company’s estimates, the internet data centre market in India is expected to grow to around $200 million by 2009. The newly launched managed customer premise equipment services include configuration management, security management, fault management and performance management services.

The managed video services allows customers to communicate between their offices using video in multiple locations.

As per a Frost and Sullivan study, the video conferencing market size, excluding the bandwidth component, is around $25 million and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 21%.
