TN to launch rail-cum-road tour to woo Karnataka tourists
The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation has planned to introduce a rail-cum-road tour from Bangalore to various tourist sites in Tamil Nadu.
The tour will cover Chennai,Mamallapuram, Rameswaram, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Tiruchirappalli as well as the Navagraha temples or the temples dedicated to nine planets, said M Rajaram, Commissioner of Tourism and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation.
The tour, beginning from May 26, will be offered once a month to tourists.The week-long tour will include a pick up at Central Railway Station, Chennai and drop at Tiruchirappalli Railway Station.
Those opting for the tour will be ensured confirmed rail tickets and accommodation. "The tourists will be accompanied by a guide and the tariff will include fees like entry fee, parking fees guide services", he said.
The tour tariff for those opting for A/C transport and accommodation, would be Rs 8100 for adults and Rs 6100 for a child while for those opting for non A/C travel and accommodation,it would be Rs 6100 for adult and Rs 4200 for a child.
The rail-cum-road tour is currently available for tourists in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Jaipur and it has now been extended for those in Banaglore.
Plans were also afoot to sign an MOU with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation to promote tourism through a healthy exchange programme. The art, culture and tourism of each state can be showcased by the other as part of it. A similar MOU has been signed with Rajasthan.
