State to build new super expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur
Nagpur to Mumbai in just 10 hours flat, that's what the Maharashtra government is promising. Maharashtra Minister of Textile and Public Works, Chandrakant Patil on Thursday announced that the state is soon going to build a six lane super expressway between the two cities to reduce the travelling time from the current 16 to 18 hours to 10 hours.

Patil said that the state has entered in to a pact with the centre to construct these roads and their endeavor would be to complete the road within three years. While Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier spoken about building a Nagpur to Mumbai 8 lane super express way, the project faced obstacles due to land acquistion issues.

The government has hence decided that it will first build the six lane super express way and then if the land acquisition issues are resolved would add two more lanes to it.

Patil said that the land for the 6 lane expressway has already been acquired by the state. Patil also announced that 3839 Km of the state's roads would be converted into highways and the Minister for surface Transport and Ports Nitin Gadkari has already agreed to it.
