THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF-government in Kerala will hold fresh talks with Dubai Internet City (DIC) authorities to put forward the revised terms and conditions for setting up the proposed 'Smart City' IT project in Kochi.
The talks would be held on August 3 and 4 on new terms put forward by the government, chief minister V S Achuthanandan said at a state cabinet meeting.
The government had already informed DIC that the previous UDF government's terms and conditons were no more acceptable, and the project would only go forward on new terms, he said.
The 'Smart City' project, mooted during the UDF regime, was stalled after the LDF came to power in the May elections because the Left opposed many of the terms and conditions agreed on by the previous government.
According to the revised guidelines, the IT Park at Kochi would not be handed over to DIC and not provided with 100 acres of land as promised by the UDF regime, Achuthanandan said.
Achuthanandan added, the condition that no other IT parks would be allowed in the region after the 'Smart City' project would also be scrapped.
The government has requested prime minister Manmohan Singh to clear the project of development of Vizhijam Harbour as an International Container Terminal, he said.
