Singapore offers support to Andhra Pradesh in development projects

The delegation, led by former Prime Minister of Singapore, Goh Chok Tong, called on the chief minister who informed them about the state government's plans in transforming Andhra Pradesh into a logistics and manufacturing hub, an official statement said.
"They (the delegation members) were briefed about the state's plan on ports, airports, highways and industrial nodes in Vizag-Chennai and Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridors, petrochemical corridor, smart cities and tourism promotion," the statement said.
The delegation offered to share their experience in the design of the new capital city and also to encourage Singapore-based companies to participate in various port, airport, industrial and tourism projects in the state.
They suggested to the chief minister that funds could be tapped from the proposed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank ( AIIB), to be set up with China, Singapore and several other countries including India, as founder-members, it said.
The delegation also extended an invitation to the chief minister to visit Singapore.
