SC stays tenders for BMIC project

The multi-crore corridor project aims at providing an expressway of 111 kms that will connect Bangalore and Mysore.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the Karnataka Government's move to invite fresh tenders for Rs 1200 crore Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

A bench headed by Justice P N Aggarwal issued notice to the Karnataka government and posted the matter for further hearing for four weeks.

Earlier, Senior Counsel Ashok Desai, appearing for the Petitioner Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Ltd, sought summoning of the Karnataka Chief Minister and Chief Secretary for committing "contempt" of the apex court's earlier order.

The multi-crore corridor project is aimed at providing an expressway of 111 kms that will connect Bangalore and Mysore, dotted by five satellite townships.
