Sale of waste from SEZ to DTA permitted without authorisation
The government has permitted sale of waste or scrap from special economic zones to the domestic market without the requirement of an authorisation.
"Sale of waste or scrap from SEZ to DTA is permitted without an authorisation," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
It said that SEZ unit/Developer/Co-developer can dispose off in DTA (domestic tariff area) any waste or scrap, including any form of metallic waste and scrap, generated during manufacturing or processing activity, without an authorisation, on payment of applicable customs duty.
Exports from special economic zones (SEZs) grew by about 31 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4.76 lakh crore during 2012-13. Shipments from these zones stood at Rs 3.65 lakh crore in 2011-12.
In another notification, it said that animal products for feeding animals will require sanitary import permit.
"Only items of animal origin or the products intended for animal feeding containing animal origin materials...will require Sanitary Import Permit," it added.
