CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Government today announced a series of road projects, including upgradation activities.

Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami told the state Assembly that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had directed upgradation of 81.27 km of National Highways at an estimated sum of Rs 82.33 crore.

Further, 910 km of Major District Roads (MDR) will be converted into state highways and 870 km of Other District Roads (ODR) will be upgraded as MDRs this year, he said.

"In 2013-14, it is proposed to collect field particulars and prepare designs for 38 road-over-bridges, six road-under-bridges, 14 river bridges, five grade seperators, three design modifications and four flyovers totalling 70 works," he said about his department's proposed activties.
