Rs 66,500 cr works proposed through public-pvt partnership

Maharashtra government has proposed undertaking Rs 66,514 crore projects in the state for boosting infrastructure through public-private sector partnership.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra government has proposed undertaking Rs 66,514 crore projects in the state for boosting infrastructure through public-private sector partnership.

This was announced by Chief Secretary Johny Joseph during a meeting with Gajendra Haldia, advisor to Planning Commission at Mantralaya.

The investment is being envisaged in 92 projects aimed at strengthening and improving infrastructure in the state, Joseph said.

The amount would be spread across projects in road development (Rs 29,927 crore), tourism (Rs 1092 crore), urban development (Rs 470 crore), railways (Rs 1500 crore), power sector (Rs 91 crore), ports development (Rs 11,544 crore), aviation (Rs 19,600 crore), agriculture (Rs 315 crore) and irrigation (Rs 1794 crore), he said.

Twenty railway stations of global standards are being planned in the country, of which one was planned adjoining the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Haldia said.
