Rs 280 cr for repair of rain-hit roads

Roads to the length of 24,560 km damaged in the monsoon rains in Tamil Nadu would be repaired at a cost of Rs 280 crore.

NAGERCOIL: Roads to the length of 24,560 km damaged in the monsoon rains in Tamil Nadu would be repaired at a cost of Rs 280 crore, state Highways Minister Vellakovil Swaminathan said.

Talking to reporters here, he said new boats would be procured at a cost of Rs 2.11 crore for the services to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Tiruvalluvar statue here.

Later inaugurating a new bridge built at an investment of Rs 2.31 lakhs in Maankaadu, the Minister said 800 vacancies in the post of Road Inspectors would be filled soon.
