Road projects worth Rs 3,036 crore awarded in Naxal areas: Govt

The government has awarded works on total 98 stretches covering 2,629 km length costing Rs 3,036 crore in the Naxal affected areas.

NEW DELHI: Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Wednesday said it has awarded Rs 3,036 crore worth of projects in the Naxal affected areas.

The government has awarded works on total 98 stretches covering 2,629 km length costing Rs 3,036 crore in the Naxal affected areas under the LWE (left wing extremism) scheme, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways RPN Singh said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.

These 98 stretches are a part of the 156 road stretches covering 4,141 km length and costing Rs 4,810 crore for which the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has so far sanctioned estimates.

These areas are in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa.
