Road Ministry to execute NH expansion project in Jharkhand

The Road Ministry today said it would execute a highway expansion project in Jharkhand at an investment of Rs 1,480 crore.

NEW DELHI: The Road Ministry today said it would execute a highway expansion project in Jharkhand at an investment of Rs 1,480 crore.

"The Minister for Road Transport & Highways CP Joshi laid the foundation stone today at Rampur village for four laning of Ranchi-Rargaon- Mahulia section of (National Highway) NH-33 in the state of Jharkhand," an official statement said.

The fourlaning 163.50 km stretch lies from 114 km to 277.5 km section of NH 33 will cost Rs 1,480 crore, the statement said.

The project to be executed under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III, on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis in Public Private Partnership (PPP) (annuity) mode of delivery, it said.

The project will expedite improvement of infrastructure in the state of Jharkhand and also reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic plying on NH-33 between Ranchi and Jamshedpur. It will also increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities, the statement added.

Meanwhile, Joshi said electronic toll collection and cashless treatment of road accident victims will be implemented on this National Highway.

He announced that from Sahebganj to Chaupa section of NH-33 will also be developed through Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode to connect famous Devghar temple.
