As per the report, the ministry awarded 2,257 km of national highways till December 2025 as against the total award of 7,538 km in 2024-25 and much lower than the average pace of award of 10,973 km during the last 10 years from 2015-25.
The ministry undertook construction of 4,989 km up to December 2025 as against 10,660 km constructed in 2024-25 or 29 km per day.
The report further said that the ministry has utilised 83.39% or Rs 2.27 lakh crore of the total budgetary capital outlay of Rs 2.72 lakh crore for 2025-26 till December 31, 2025.
Of the target capital expenditure of Rs 3.06 lakh crore for 2025-26 (including private investment), the Rs 1.91 lakh crore has been utilised till December 31, 2025, it added.
Until December 2025, national highways totalling 1,511 km amounting to Rs 84,815 crore were approved by the cabinet committee on economic affairs.
As per the report, 43.93 lakh annual passes have been sold as of December 31,2025, generating a total user fee collection of Rs 1,317 crore.
During the period, 3,62,579 vehicles have been scrapped including 2,45,414 private owned vehicles and 1,67,872 government owned vehicles at 126 registered vehicle scrapping facilities operationalised across 21 states.
