Road connectivity to Warwan villages by year-end: J&K Minister

Minister of State for Home, and Industries and Commerce said attention will be given to Warwan under the Centre's flagship programme.

JAMMU: Road connectivity to all villages of villages of far-flung and remote areas of Warwan in Kishtwar district will be provided by the year-end, a Jammu and Kashmir minister said on Monday.

Welcoming the announcement for a Central assistance of Rs 710 crore for land compensation under PMGSY, Minister of State for Home, and Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said in a public meeting in the area that attention will be given to Warwan under the Centre's flagship programme.

"The government will strive to improve the image of Warwan by improving its connectivity and bringing it on the tourism map of the state," the Minister said. Separate funds under schemes of Union and state governments will be allocated to create tourism-related infrastructure in the area, he said.

"Road connectivity to all villages Warwan will be provided by the end of this year," Kichloo said.

Assuring the people to make efforts to start winter sports activities in the area, the Minister said private investment in tourism sector will expedite creation of tourism-related infrastructure.
