Reliance Infra has started toll collection and widening work of its Bengaluru –Chennai highway project, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

MUMBAI: Reliance Infrastructure has started toll collection and widening work of its Bengaluru –Chennai highway project, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s infrastructure company is widening the section of the National Highway between Hosur and Krishnagiri, which connects Bengaluru and Chennai, to six lanes from four lanes.

The company bagged the National Highways Authority of India’s project, worth around Rs 1,000 crore, in 2010. The build-operate-transfer project and has a concession period of 26 years.

After the transfer of most of its power assets and all upcoming projects to group company Reliance Power, Reliance Infrastructure has evolved as an infrastructure company which operates as a developer as well as a contractor. It also generates and distributes power.

Reliance Infrastructure has 25 infrastructure development projects in its kitty worth a total of Rs 40,000 crore. This includes 11 road projects worth about Rs 12,000 crore covering 970 km. Of the road projects, the company now has four revenue generating road projects.
