Reliance Infrastructure's power station bags CII award in water management
Reliance Infrastructure's Dahanu Thermal Power Station has been adjudged the winner of the CII's (Confederation of Indian Industry) prestigious National Award for Excellence in Water Management for the Year 2008.
This is third time that the CII is recognizing an excellence in water management by Indian industries by conferring on the national award in water management. The power station has also won this prestigious award in year 2005 and 2006.
Dahanu Thermal Power Station, in last twelve years of its being operational in the Taluka of Dahanu, has remained instrumental in conservation of resources and their utilization in the economical and efficient ways. The power station has embedded resources management as a part of its operation system.
As far as the water management is concerned, some of the key initiatives, power station has taken are creation of an internal water management group, system base approach for efficient water management, best O & M practices, use of quality tools like six sigma, use of latest and best technology, waste reductions, regular water audit and corrective actions for continual improvement.
The CII's prestigious national award for excellence in water management is given to recognize and award 'excellence' in the field by industries to instill a sense of necessity of water management.
