Reliance Infra emerges sole bidder for NHAI project

NEW DELHI: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group firm Reliance Infrastructure on Wednesday said it has emerged as the sole bidder for National Highway Authority of India's Eastern Peripheral Expressway project, entailing an investment of Rs 2,676 crore.

"The company emerged as the sole bidder for 135 kilometers greenfield Eastern Peripheral Expressway project, covering Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, in spite of two extensions from NHAI," it said in a statement.

"The project would entail an investment of Rs 2,676 crore (NHAI estimates) and involves construction of greenfield six-lane expressway, with access control, connecting Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad-Sonepat, which will also act as bypass to Delhi, with a concession period of 20 years," Reliance Infrastructure said.

According to the statement, the project is specifically designed to decongest Delhi traffic under high court instructions.
"Once operational, the new expressway will ease traffic congestion, drastically cut travel time and ensure safe and comfortable movement of traffic," the company said.

Further, this project would take Reliance Infrastructure road portfolio to 601 kms worth Rs 6,500 crore and has emerged as one of the largest BOT concessionaire for NHAI.

The company is presently in advanced stages of the four-laning of five national highway projects in Tamil Nadu, which covers a length of 400 km at a cost of Rs 3,100 crore.

It is also developing roads, bridges, metro rail and real estate projects.
