JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has signed a shareholders agreement with Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd (MGDL), the infrastructural development unit of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group, to develop special economic zones and Domestic Tariff Area for the economic development of the state.

Under the agreement, 2500 acres of SEZ and 500 acres of domestic tariff area would be developed near the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway, an official release said here.

The SEZ projects would attract an investment of about Rs 1,400 crore and provide direct employment to one lakh people.

The agreement was signed here yesterday by Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Managing director Kuldip Ranka and Mahindra and Mahindra executive director Arun Nanda.

On the occasion, a state support agreement was also signed between the state government and Mahindra World City (Jaipur) Ltd.
