Pre-Budget meetings on housing shortage

Government has held pre-Budget meetings with various chambers and stakeholders recently.

NEW DELHI: Concerned over the shortage of about 24.4 million houses in the urban areas, the Government has held pre-Budget meetings with various chambers and stakeholders recently.

In her discussions, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Selja took up fiscal concessions needed to boost the housing sector.

At present 98 per cent of the economically weaker sections are facing housing shortage in the country.

Official sources said various fiscal concessions considered by the Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry for recommendation to the Finance Ministry would boost the housing stock to achieve the goal of affordable houses for all.
