Over five thousand projects executed under MPLADS
Haryana govt spent Rs 72.69 cr on completion of 5390 works while 638 works are under progress under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.
A spokesman of the Rural Development Department said here today that scheme had been launched by Central Government from 23 December, 1993 and provides an amount of Rs 2 crore per annum for the development works to each Member of parliament under this scheme.
He said that Rs 20.29 crore out of total Rs 30 crore had been spent on the various works so far in the state during the current financial year.
He said that the objectives of the scheme included the construction of building for schools, hostels, libraries and others buildings of educational institutions, construction of tubewells, Water tanks, roads including part roads, approach roads, link roads, special forestry, farm forestry, horticulture, pastures parks and gardens in Government and community lands or other surrendered lands.
The other objective of this scheme included the construction of public toilets, bathroom, bus sheds and stops for public transport passengers, drains and gutters, footpaths, pathways, footbridges, veterinary aid centres, artificial insemination and breeding centres, he added.
