Over 385 projects delayed in North-East

Nearly 385 projects out of 909 development projects, currently in progress in North East region, have been running behind schedule due to various reasons including law and order situation.

SHILLONG: Nearly 385 projects out of 909 development projects, currently in progress in North East region, have been running behind schedule due to various reasons including law and order situation.

About 208 projects have been delayed by more than one year and 177 projects by three years or more, an official release from Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) ministry said.

The projects are under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), Special Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF), North Eastern Council and Special Bodo Territorial Council (BTC) package.

These projects are implemented by the state governments, sources said.

"The main reason for their delay is due to limitation of technical and professional expertise, the restricted working season due to prolonged monsoons and the prevailing law and order situation in some areas of the region," the statement said.
