Over 270 development works are underway in Jammu and Kashmir

More than 270 developmental works at a cost of nearly Rs 16 crore are presently being executed by various agencies of Jammu and Kashmir.

SRINAGAR: More than 270 developmental works at a cost of nearly Rs 16 crore are presently being executed by various agencies of Jammu and Kashmir government in the summer capital of the state, an official spokesman said.

"Work is in progress on 271 developmental projects costing Rs 15.80 crore in municipal areas of Srinagar city," the spokesman said after a review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand here yesterday.

He said 10 community halls are at different stages of execution at a total cost of Rs 6.50 crore in the city.

"Under Capital City Development Programme, work is apace on 256 various developmental projects including lanes, drains and lavatory blocks at a cost of Rs 6.80 crore," the spokesman added.

Addressing the meeting, Tara Chand said the government was committed to provide all civic amenities to the people living in capital cities and towns.
